For many years, kidney stones were analyzed using wet chemical methods, which brings a major disadvantage to the table. Only the presence of individual ions and radicals can be determined. 
This system is a high-tech product used for analyzing urinary tract stones. It combines advanced optical, electronic, materials science, and artificial intelligence technologies, and all details reflect the design purpose: easy operation, excellent performance, powerful software functions, intelligent operation, easy maintenance, accurate data analysis, and other characteristics.
 

Type of Kidney Stone

• Calcium stones - Most kidney stones are made of calcium compounds, especially calcium oxalate (80%).
• Uric acid stones - Stones made up of uric acid; a waste product normally passed in urine (7%).
• Struvite stones - These stones are found in infected urine and have a mixed constitution.

Kidney stone analysis is a test done on a kidney stone to see what chemicals are in it.
1.The test is done on a kidney stone that has been passed in the urine or removed from the urinary tract during surgery.
2.Chemical analysis of a kidney stone shows the type of stone which can guide treatment and give information that may prevent more stones from forming. 3.People who have had a kidney stone have a chance of having another one, so prevention measures are important.

Technical features:
(1) The patient's stone sample is directly subjected to compression analysis on the ATR crystal platform, without the need for additional compression equipment to assist in sample preparation.
(2) The testing process no longer uses spectral pure potassium bromide consumables, reducing analysis costs while avoiding the introduction of interfering components that may affect the accuracy of analysis results.
(3) Reduce the difficulty of sample preparation technology in the detection process, without the need for sample preparation, non-destructive, and without special requirements for the size and shape of the sample. The sample can be directly pressed and analyzed on the ATR crystal platform to collect data. The entire process of detecting and analyzing a single stone sample takes 3-5 minutes, achieving quick and easy access to the detection report.
(4) No consumables are used, actively responding to the national call to reduce the cost of medical consumables.
(5) Cleaning is fast and convenient, simply remove the sample, clean the crystal surface, and achieve continuous and rapid detection and analysis of large quantities of stone samples to produce reports.
(6) It can achieve in-situ testing and real-time tracking, facilitate real-time analysis of stone sample sampling, avoid storage, and prevent impurities from interfering with the accuracy of test results during the processing.
(7) Excellent performance in analyzing thick or strongly absorbing samples - very suitable for detecting and analyzing difficult to analyze stone samples such as black, red, dark brown, etc.
(8) The detection sensitivity is high, the measurement area is small, and the monitoring point can be several micrometers. The top pressure mechanism of the ATR component fully and effectively contacts the stone sample to be tested with the ATR crystal platform to ensure the detection ability and testing accuracy of the sample signal, and to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of the test results.
(9) Outstanding optical path design, advanced core optical component coating technology, and durable single crystal diamond (diamond) combination application can obtain high-quality infrared spectra.

Struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) - stones associated with a bacterial infection

The chemical composition of the stone can usually be identified. This shows what the stone is made of, but it does not give the reason why the stone formed.

Someone may have an underlying disease or condition that causes them to produce and/or excrete an excess of a specific chemical into the urine. They may be inadequately hydrated and/or have acidic or alkaline urine that contributes to the crystallization process. Preventing kidney stone recurrence depends upon identifying and addressing the cause of stone formation.
 

 

In general, if a person has a:

• Calcium oxalate or calcium phosphate stone, then it is likely that they are excreting excess calcium and/or oxalate (or sometimes too little citrate, which normally binds calcium but does not form stones) into the urine. This may be due to:

• An inherited tendency to absorb more than the normal amount of calcium from the diet, causing high urine calcium (hypercalciuria).
• Dietary factors-eating too much animal protein, sugar, salt or foods rich in oxalate increases the risk of stone formation by altering the chemical balance of the urine. High salt intake can lead to increased excretion of calcium into the urine.
• Factors affecting absorption of nutrients, such as inflammatory bowel disease or intestinal surgery-an imbalance in nutrient absorption may result in excess urinary oxalate.
• Too much parathyroid hormone (primary hyperparathyroidism), leading to high serum and urine calcium.
• A variety of metabolic disorders-these may lead to some degree of metabolic acidosis, resulting in an increased high urine calcium excretion.

Analysis of a kidney stone consisting of various components
1.The identification of the components in the kidney stone sample is performed by an automated search of the resulting spectrum in a dedicated spectral library containing > 5,000 spectra of authentic kidney stones.
2.A report of the identification result finalizes the analysis.
3.The total analysis time including sampling, measurement, identification, and report generation is about 1 minute.

Preventing kidney stone recurrence depends upon identifying and addressing the cause of stone formation.

• Uric acid stone, then it is likely that they are producing and excreting excess uric acid due to conditions such as gout or disorders of uric acid metabolism.
• Struvite stone, the person likely has a specific type of bacterial infection that leads to the production of excess ammonia.
• Cystine stone, then the person is likely producing and excreting excess cystine as the result of a rare hereditary disorder.
• Drug-related stone, then the person is forming stones because of a medication that they are taking.
• Other stone, a variety of stones may be formed when an excess chemical is present and/or when the urine is very concentrated, such as may occur with dehydration.
